About Me:

Sofia Tsahalis is a soprano who is passionate about using music to inspire and connect with others. She is committed to uniting disciplined technique with expressive authenticity, creating performances that are both meaningful and engaging. At the heart of her artistry is a desire to foster connection -whether through opera, recital, or community performance- bringing audiences closer to the transformative power of music.

For Sofia, singing is not only an act of expression but also a way to connect people, foster community, and bring joy. She has extensive experience as both a soloist and ensemble musician, appearing on some of New York City’s most renowned stages, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Radio City Music Hall. Her background in choral singing has been central to her development, giving her the chance to explore a wide range of repertoire, languages, and styles while strengthening her sense of collaboration and ensemble artistry. Originally from New York and now based in Baltimore, she is a third-year undergraduate at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where she studies vocal performance and continues to refine her craft. In addition to large-scale performances, Sofia values the intimacy and accessibility of recital work, especially art song. She is drawn to this repertoire for its ability to connect with audiences in a personal, approachable way, allowing music and ext to resonate on a human level. She extends this same mission to community settings, performing in spaces such as during homes and local programs. For Sofia, these experiences affirm her belief that music’s greatest purpose is connection-the foundation of her artistry and the goal that guides her career.
